Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy
1. Will I lose control?
Nonsense, you are always in control; no one can make you do anything you don't want to do while in an hypnotic state.
2. Is hypnosis dangerous?
No more so than sleep. Everyday you go in and out of an hypnotic state. For instance, have you ever driven to work and arrived
there without remembering driving there? That is an altered state.
3. Can I be hypnotized?
Many people believe they cannot be hypnotized. Truth is, everyone can be hypnotized, once they understand what to expect.
4. Will I be asleep or unconscious while under hypnosis?
No. You look like you are asleep, you may even snore, but you are not asleep. You are in an altered state of awareness, not
asleep, not awake, not dreaming.
5. Can a hypnotherapist make me do anything I don't want to do?
Absolutely not! You are always in control - not the hypnotherapist. However, in an hypnotic state, you can change unwanted
behaviors easily and effortlessly.
6. What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is communication. It is using the power of suggestion to facilitate behavior changes in the easiest, quickest way
possible. You get results!
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION?
In addition to the hypnotherapy session, each client will be provided with their own personal CD or download of the session to listen to at night.
HYPNOSIS FOR WEIGHT LOSS:
Weight loss hypnosis starts with six sessions two weeks apart. The various challenges that you have had in the past about food are addressed. Also hypnosis for exercise motivation is included. New healthy eating habits are developed, using hypnosis. Depending on your weight loss goals and your own personal progress, subsequent weight loss hypnotherapy sessions may be schduled at two to four week intervals, if needed.
QUIT SMOKING WITH HYPNOSIS:
Come in a smoker and leave a nonsmoker in just ONE SESSION OF HYPNOSIS!
The session lasts approximately 2-1/2 to 3 hours, which includes interview, facts on smoking, and hypnosis
HYPNOSIS FOR STRESS:
Learn how to De-Stress, using hypnosis. You will learn proper breathing techniques so that you can use them at any time you are in a stressful situation.
This is a wonderful way to experience hypnosis and total relaxation.
HYPNOSIS FOR IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS):
IBS is a frustrating and often debilitating chronic illness characterized by diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating and spasms. Conventional medical treatment includes a variety of medications, a high fiber diet, fiber supplements and behavioral changes. The behavioral changes include exercise, stress reduction and dietary changes. Unfortunately, this regime has not been proven adequately effective for a high percentage of sufferers. In addition, many people find the side effects of the medications to be more noxious than the IBS Symptoms. Either reason results in poor compliance.
However, hypnotherapy has been proven highly effective in alleviating IBS symptoms. Over 15 years of solid scientific research has demonstrated hypnotherapy as an effective, safe and inexpensive choice for IBS symptom alleviation. Hypnotherapy routinely produces positive results in over 80% of the people who use it. It has been so overwhelmingly successful for IBS symptom alleviation that Adriane Fugh-Berman, MD, chair of the National Women's Health Network in Washington, DC, says that hypnosis should be the treatment of choice for IBS cases which have not responded to conventional therapy.
I work with clients on a one-on-one basis in my office. As with other hypnotherapy sessions, clients are provided with CD of the session. An IBS client typically requires 6 to 10 hypnotherapy treatments, spaced two weeks apart. This is a program done in conjunction with your personal physician and is not intended as a replacement for traditional medical treatment.
